THE BIBLE

The Bible is the written Word of God. It is not just a simple book, Hebrews 4:12 says that God’s Word “is living and active.”

The Biblethe bestseller of all time – draws readers because it deals with that deep-down questions to which everyone wants answers: Why are we on this earth? What is the purpose of life? What happens when life ends?

God’s Word creates life and faith, it produces change to people, it helps us build Christ-like character, it transforms our lives, it changes the way we think, and it even frightens our enemy, Satan. We cannot live without it. That’s why we must never take it for granted.

The Bible is made up of 66 books. Divided into two main groups, the Old Testament which is made up of 39 books and the New Testament, which consists of 27 books. There are also a number of books known as Deuterocanonical, secondary to the books of Scripture themselves, which may be found in some Bibles. These books, however, were not considered to have the same authority as the other Bible books.

The Holy Bible contains stories, songs, poems, teachings and many others. It’s written by different people from different times. And as we read the Bible, we’ll learn that it is all about our Lord Jesus Christ. About how he created mankind, and how He showed His love for us by saving us. In the Bible He has given us commands that will help us live a good life.

If we follow the principles of this world, it will surely lead us to destruction. We must not follow the wrong wisdom of the world; we must only follow Jesus. We must accept the authority of the Bible. Many of our problems happen because we base our choices on unreliable authorities. We need a perfect standard that will never lead us in the wrong way or direction.

In John 8:31-32 Jesus says, “If you continue in My Word, then you are my disciples indeed; and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.” To have real freedom, we must know the truth that can be found only in the Bible.

GIVING THANKS TO JESUS

We all have a lot to be thankful for. We shouldn’t let a day go by without thanking Jesus for everything He has done for us. He gave us life, the air we breathe and the world we live in. Remember that Jesus is the giver of every good and perfect gift.

1 Thessalonians 5-16-18 says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” The Bible tells us to always rejoice, to always pray and to always give thanks to Jesus, in all circumstances. We must thank Him every time we’re happy and ok, but also every time we’re sad or in the midst of pain. Even when we are suffering, we have a reason to thank Him. Never forget that Jesus is always with us, He assures us that He’ll never leave us nor forsake us, we can read that in Hebrews 13:5. Everything that is happening in a believer’s life happens for a reason. Jesus has a purpose for everything. Romans 8:28 says that “All things work together for good to them that love God…”

Never think that Jesus owes you anything because He doesn’t. Thank Him for all the undeserved gift that He has given you. Never take Him for granted because in Him we live, and move and have our being. We can read that in Acts 17:28.

Never think that we can live in this world alone. We cannot exist by ourselves. Jesus holds our world in His hands. We should respect His authority, and His power. We must thank Him in every way that we can. And never let a day go by without thanking the Lord Jesus Christ.

SEEKING THE LORD JESUS CHRIST

King David passionately desired to seek and know Jesus. In the book of Psalms, he used words like longing, thirsting and yearning. He really want Jesus, above all else. He said in Psalm 27:4, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that  I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in His temple.”

Jesus said in Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.” If we spend time to seek Jesus, we’ll be able to find Him if we really want to. Some people however do not really, seek the Lord. Some people may want to experience Jesus in their lives, but they don’t do anything about it. They just expect the Lord to do things for them, or to do miracles for them.

Some people who do not believe in Jesus are not able to experience Him because they do not look for Him with all their hearts. We won’t be able to find something if we do not look for it. Therefore, we won’t be able to find Jesus and know Him if we do not seek Him. An intimate relationship with Jesus our Savior is a choice and not an accident. You must intentionally seek it.

You can’t just say that you want to know Jesus and then do nothing. You must act on what you say. If you want to know the Lord Jesus Christ, if you really want to experience Him in your life, and if you really call Him your Lord and your God, you must seek Him by knowing His Words. Romans 10:17 says that our faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

We must know the Words of Jesus. Through reading the Bible, you will be able to know Him because it is His written words. The Bible is living and it is active. Jesus speaks to us through His Words. If we love Jesus, we will not take the Bible for granted. If Jesus is important to us, we will get to know His Words and we’ll always seek Him with all our hearts. So never forget to put Jesus in the center of your life, for He is our life and our strength, He is the reason we that live.

CHANGING THE WAY WE THINK

Part of a Christian life is to be born again, to be a new creation.  2 Corinthians 5:17 says that “if anyone be in Christ, He is a new creature. Old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new.” This means that once we accept the Lord Jesus Christ in our lives as our Lord and Savior, a change must take place.

To change your life, you must change the way you think. Your first step in spiritual growth is to start changing the way you think because change starts with our minds. One of our purposes in life is to be like Jesus. And to be like Christ, we must develop the mind of Christ.

1Corinthians 14:20 says, “Stop thinking like children. In regard to evil, be infants, but in your thinking be adults.“ We must stop thinking immature thoughts, which are self-seeking because that’s a sign of selfishness. Stop thinking immature thoughts and start thinking maturely, which focuses on others and not yourself. Jesus commanded us to deny ourselves if we want to follow Him. So we must deny the things that make our flesh happy. Deny the things that are against the will of God.

By changing the way we think and thinking about others more than we think of ourselves, we’ll be more spiritually mature.

Many may assume that spiritual maturity is measured by the amount of biblical information that you know. The Christian life is far more than knowledge; never forget that it includes character.

RUNNING THE CHRISTIAN RACE

It is written in Hebrews 12:1, “Let us run with perseverance the race that was set before us…” Christian discipleship is like a race, says the author of Hebrews. And we are told not to simply run, but to run with perseverance. We often hear it said, particularly in sports, that “it’s not the winning but taking part that matters.” That may be so in sports, but it is not so here in the race of the Christian life that we are in.

The New Testament draws a parallel from this metaphor, as to the endurance required of believers. If we would partake of the prize set before us, we must remember the words of Jesus, He said that: “He that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” We can read that in Mark 13:13.

Now let’s read what’s written in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25 “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.”

In a marathon race, only one receives the prize. But in the Christian race that we are in, all of us can win the prize if we run it in a disciplined way. And by keeping the rules. Jesus has given us the Bible, and in the Bible there are certain commands that He wants us to follow. These commands will help us to win this race. If we follow the Words of Jesus, we’ll be able to obtain the incorruptible crown that He has prepared for us. Remember that this race is completed only by looking unto Jesus; we must focus on Him, because He is our eternal life.
